25/07/13: Naked Boys Reading has become quite the nude literary institution in the mean, lean streets of Dalstonia. So much so that they can literally pack out the sweaty basement of kitsch boudoir club Vogue Fabrics, even on a hot and balmy July evening.

For those who have not come across this phenomenon before, Naked Boys Reading does exactly what it promises: it’s boys, naked, standing before an avid crowd, reading. And last Thursday’s theme was ‘leather’.

Brought to you and hosted by ‘the genial Sharon Husbands’, one of the funniest and most appealing drag queens currently operating on the scene, Miss Husbands on the night was rocking a ‘cast-off Jodie Harsh wig’ look and warmed up the crowd with some quick-fire quips before introducing us to our first boy, Denis.

Lead on by a leather and PVC clad dominatrix the naked boy to kick things off was wearing one thing: a leather dog collar, whose lead was held in the hand of the dominatrix. Needless to say, the crowd appreciated it.

Denis read about the dreams of leather lore many moons ago, an American handbook of leather if you will, and then made way for our second boy Greg Mitchell. Dressed in harness straps, Greg read us a story written by his own hand of opera, rent boys, leather and fetish that had the entire audience spellbound and creased up in laughter, a truly excellent piece.

Next up were Martin, Dan and Brian who read us a selection of erotic BDSM fiction, introspections into the leather experience and a very entertaining exposé of love with bananas in anuses and authoritarian sexual politics. (Oh, yeah!) Given the heady nature of outside that evening, you can imagine how the atmosphere heated up quickly down in Vogue’s basement, and soon a number of boys who weren’t the readers were following the path to nudity… As I left, the Duchess of Pork was beginning the post-reading party proper tunes and the real filth was just getting under way!

Naked Boys Reading 1st Birthday will be on Thursday 26th September at Vogue Fabrics. Doors open at 7.30pm, show at 8pm. Confirmed boys will be: Ashley Ryder, Chris Miller, James Stanley Thomas, with more TBC.
