As part of G-A-Y’s fundraising for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, next month Team G-A-Y and Team QX are attempting to complete Tough Mudder, the army-style assault course that features up to 25 challenges over 12 miles.

Personal Trainer of the Year, Stefan Chiriaco, took them all out for a quick evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses – well, mostly weaknesses! Here’s his evaluation of how he felt it went…

SLIM
G-A-Y Head of Security

Slim is naturally strong but his obstacles will be his fitness level and excess body fat slowing him down. He will have to work extremely hard over the coming weeks to help boost that area of his body.

JEREMY JOSEPH
G-A-Y & Heaven owner

Jeremy is in good shape for the fitness element, but lacks upper body strength and also has mental obstacles, as he knows how hard it is to do some of the more challenging drills such as the monkey bars. He really needs to gear himself up for them so he doesn’t quit before trying.

CLIFF JOANNOU
QX Editor

Cliff has a good level of strength and fitness, but is highly unaccustomed to an endurance event of this magnitude. He needs to condition his body with repetition and also pace himself well at the event to avoid burning out early.

PATRICK CASH
QX Editorial Assistant

Patrick is naturally light and has some muscle to do the basic exercises, however, he may run out of steam on the strength as his body is so endurance accustomed. He needs to work on muscle strength.

MICHAEL MITCHELL
Jeremy’s Assistant

The same issues as Patrick in that he needs to work on his total body strength as endurance is not enough when the event is so physically gruelling. Also, because he has low fat stores, he must eat properly and hydrate well before the event.
