QX magazine caught up with bear DJ Raf Daddy ahead of his set at Brüt this weekend.

Hello Raf! How’s life on the bear DJ scene?

Hot and hairy.

We’ve decided to ask you some (vaguely) bear-related questions. Ready?

Sure

Salmon or haddock?

Haddock, more sustainable, innit.

Peanut butter or sunflower spread?

Peanut butter, for maintaining my physique

Honey or lube?

Are the two mutually exclusive? Honey please.

Kylie or Danni?

Danni. More issues.

If you encountered another bear in the wild, what would you do?

Give them a bear-hug of course

Thankyou for answering our vaguely bear-related questions! We might make it a weekly section called Bear of the Week! (BOTW). Speaking of Bears, how’s your DJ collective 2 Bears coming along?

My partner in the 2 Bears is busy with his day-job in the group Hot Chip at the moment so we’ve been in hibernation for a while. We’re making plans for the end of the year for some fun shows.

Tell us about your set at Brüt in a couple of weeks.

It’s my first gig at Brüt. I’ll be bringing big, fat, heavy soulful vibes for the dancefloor. We shall dance the fool’s circle, nine ways.

What’s the best DJ set you’ve ever done?

It’s hard for me to be the judge of that. I had an amazing gig at a festival in Ireland called Electric Picnic last year though.

What other exciting projects do you and 2 Bears have in store?

I’m working on some solo material and I think Joe is doing the same. There are plans for a UK tour with our live show at the end of the year. At the beginning of next year we’ll get back in the studio and sail into the mystic.
