I’d just like to start by saying I think Virgin Xtravaganzah has the strongest drag look on the scene right now. Totally fashion, totally art, totally original, outrageously pretentious and, most importantly, just fucking camp.

Also, like me, she LOVES wearing ridiculous celestial jewellery, like rings with chains that connect to each other and, like, such as. So there, I’ve said it. If anyone would like to dispute my claim, please do send an email to dylan@qxmagazine.kinsta.cloud or leave a message with the front desk.

Virgin’s show at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club was excellent as expected. It was truly a variety show in sort of an old school way – as in, the acts were ACTUALLY different to each other.

She worked great as the blasphemously billowing MC, storming up and down between lecterns that flanked the stage. She kicked things off with a hilariously heinous rendition of Genie In A Bottle (“I’m a virgin in the bible baby”). THEN, Lily Snatchdragon emerged from a bag on stage and proceeded to be endearingly offensive. THEN, comedian Joe Sutherland hopped up on stage. He’s great, sassy and self-assured, but self-effacing enough to be very likeable. I particularly enjoyed his assertion that “yes, homosexuality IS a choice. A very easy one.”

After HIM it was sexy burlesquing Barbie carnage from TeTe Bang. I love TeTe Bang. It’s not because she looks amazing. Although she does, she looks like Pamela Anderson shagged Jigglypuff. No, I think it’s that knowing look she has. Like it’s all just cheeky fun really. Wink wink.

So yes, well done Virgin Xtravaganzah. You’ve fast become one of the London drag scene’s most prolific stars, and you deserve it! When I’m on my knees this weekend, I’ll be praying to you.

• You can see Virgin every Sunday night at Bloc Bar from 5pm.
