WELL, the last few days have been quite a major (MAYJOR) few days for music, so I can actually write about new releases! Which I haven’t done in ages.

I know this column promises to be a “round-up of new music” but when the only new music is No by Meghan Trainor I just can’t bring myself to do it and so I write about Lindsay Lohan album tracks from 2005.

BUT NOT ANYMORE! We’ve got new Ke$ha! We’ve got new Rihanna! We’ve got new Dua Lipa! SO HERE WE GO.

Ke$ha & Zedd – True Colours

I’ve only had the chance to listen to this a few times, not  enough to PROPERLY make my mind up on it yet, but at the moment I’m loving it! Firstly, no matter what you think about the whole Ke$ha saga, it’s a really well-produced song, with a fairly original sound. I tried to operate a bit of Death Of The Author with it. I learnt that phrase in A-Level English Literature. It means reading a book with no prior knowledge of the author. So yeah. Who’d have thought it’d come in useful when writing about Ke$ha in a fag rag! So yeah, as it stands, True Colours is an 8/10. We’ll see!

Dua Lipa – Hotter Than Hell

ABSOLUTE BANGER! This is exactly the sort of punky dance pop we live for at QX! It’s leather-jacket-storming-through-Dalston-with-a-cigarette fare! It’s great! Dua has been pretty consistently good actually, and she hasn’t even been around for that long. Apparently she lives somewhere around Hampstead. We’ll give you a call next time we’re up there cruising Dua, you can join us for a sausage roll. Well done babe! Snaps for Dua #HotterThanHell
