Tell us about yourself Jeff!
I am the best kind of trouble, wrapped in laughter, tied up with an adventurous spirit and sprinkled with love and fierce loyalty for my peoples.
What kinda music do you play?
It depends on the event. I like a few genres and I’m lucky enough to have the opportunities to showcase my love for these. I love throwing down dirty, sexy, vocal Tech House at a bar or club (this is what will be happening at Daddy Issues at Tipsy in East London on the 15th), but I also love when I get to play a Deep House set under the watchful gaze of the setting sun. I ALSO love laying down a more bouncy and high energy straight-up House set. But the common thread between all of my styles is an element of soulfulness, sexiness, and of course it all has to be a liiiiiitle bit dirty…
What can we expect from your set at Daddy Issues?
As I mentioned I’ll be bringing my Tech House alter ego. But this will be a very special set. First of all it’s my first gig in London, a city I lived in for a year and a half back in 2005, and I fucking LOVE London. So that’s exciting. Second of all and more importantly, I’ll be reunited with my Burning Man DJ pahtnah and general rabble-rousing co-conspirator Borja Peña. Borja and I both had our Burning Man cherries popped last year DJing on the infamous BAAAHS bus and I have been chomping at the bit for this reunion. So that’s fucking exciting too. Basically I’ll be bringing my AAA+ game and unleashing all kinda holy Tech House hell.
1. Self Control (Original Mix) – SoloWg
Just straight up and down, super fun & bouncey day-party shit.
2. In White Rooms (Original Mix) – Booka Shade
Their latest release Movements is an awe-inspiringly sophisticated and courageous exploration into electronica, it was very hard to pick one, but this is my early fave.
3. This Time feat. Black Soda (Original Mix) – Alex Dimou, Black Soda
An example of the kind of epic and gorgeous Deep House I love to play as the sun is going down over the water.
4. Sacred Dance of the Demon (Gorgon City Remix) – Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons
Usually I stay away from tracks with a heavy ethnic flavour unless it was made by someone FROM that culture, but this one is just soooo good.
5. Robotic Love (Original Mix) – Florin H
A really cheeky and layered Deep Tech track that makes me want to both fuck someone and/or just hold hands with someone.
6. VENOM (Original Mix) – Paji
This one is just a straight up fucking monster. A monster with VIOLINS.
7. Brown Paper (Original Mix) – Roni Size, under_score
Cuz I had to ‘reprezent’ for my British folk. Also it’s dirty as haaayl.
8. Need I Say More (Original Mix) – D. Ramirez, Sydney Blu
A good old fashioned bangin’ House track with one of the all-time greatest House vocals made in part by a Toronto alumni – the kick-ass Sydney Blu.
9. Neanderthal (Original Mix) – Doorly feat Marshall Jefferson
The best vocal spoken word tracks, for me, are the ones where the vocal is super creative, super fucking weird, and again, dirty as haaayl. This one is all of those things.
10. Wake Up (Original Mix) – Deaf Audio Circus
I’m becoming obsessed with Budenzauber, a label out of Stuttgart pumping out a deep and minimalist brand of Tech House and Techno. This is my current #1.
