Do you remember Earl’s Court in its gay heydays? When Earl’s Court was London’s premier LGBT centre for pubs, bars, clubs and places where gay people met.

A group has been set up that doesn’t want people to forget about Earl’s Court’s importance in London’s gay history or to lose those facts and memories, so they’re creating a lasting archive of photos, reminiscences, stories, places and memories.

The memories will be lodged with the Kensington and Chelsea Local History Library so that memories do not disappear.

Do you have anything that you would like to contribute? Photos, memories, stories, people… You can share on their Facebook page or send to Cllr. Linda Wade, Earl’s Court Ward Councillor, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, The Town Hall, Hornton, London W8 7NX.

To kick it off, they’re holding a local exhibition and party at The Bolton at 326 Earl’s Court Road on Saturday 26 February 2022 from 6pm, with DJ and music, drag shows, video footage and more. There will be films from the Earl’s Court Film Festival as well as a documentary which will be part of the archive. Guests include Wayne Sleep. Entertainment from Mocha, Miss Joelle, Jimmy Lavender, Aidan Orange, and Karl Moffat.

6pm-9pm, Saturday 26 February. The Bolton Kensington, 326 Earl’s Court Road, SW5 9BQ

Please share this with any friends or family who might be interested – and put the date in your diary!

Work on the archive will continue with further research with the Bishopsgate Institute and an exhibition to be held later in the year.
