RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season three finalist Ella Vaday hopes to “shape the future of LGBTQ+ comedy” as they join the judging panel for the 2022 Comedy Bloomers LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year.

Ella shared, “I am thrilled to be supporting LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year,” said Ella Vaday. “This is an important platform for new comedy talents and a much needed opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community to come together. I am looking forward to help shape the future of LGBTQ+ comedy as part of the judging panel for this exciting event.”

Nick Collier, better known as Ella Vaday, is an English drag queen, actor and dancer who competed on the third series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

Chris Smith founded Comedy Bloomers in 2017 having concluded that the LGBTQ+ comedy scene was under represented within both the LGBTQ+ scene and mainstream comedy.

Top prizes include a trophy, plus a solo show filmed and streamed on Next Up Comedy, the home of the best stand-up comedy. Next Up Comedy will also film and stream the competition final.

Previous Comedy Bloomer winner Charlie George went on to write for Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back as well as major live comedy appearances at festivals and Pride.

“We are thrilled to finally be returning with LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year after a very challenging two years for our communities and beyond,” Chris told QX. “We are seeing a lot of new comedy talents on the circuit who will have the chance to compete for the prize – to get their own solo show professionally filmed and streamed on leading comedy platform Next Up Comedy. With a dazzling array of celebrity judges to be announced and an expanded range of venues and locations, we hope to make this year’s competition a landmark event in the LGBTQ+ Calendar.”

Ella Vaday will join the Comedy Bloomers judging panel for the first semi-finals in London on 11 May at Seven Dials Club, Covent Garden. For more details, head to Comedy Bloomers FB.
