Becky Biro is a drag artist who not only wants to be famous but also reckons she deserves it. She has worked her arse off and won’t accept anything less!
So, when Becky is told they need a larger social following to be considered for the international TV hit ‘The Drag Factor’, Becky sees success is within reach. She is hungry for it and will do whatever it takes to get there so she can reap the rewards of what she regards as her inevitable stardom. Well, that’s the plan, anyway. What could go wrong?
Crayola The Queen, a drag queen legend in her own right, plays the role of Becky. It’s a fast-paced cabaret-infused piece of comic theatre. But Fame Whore has its dark moments, as it examines our desperate desire for relevance, the extremes we may go to get there, and how we, as a community, hold someone accountable for their misguided actions.
Tom Ratcliffe is the writer of Fame Whore. He also wrote the multi-award-winning Velvet.
