How to Tell a Secret is a powerful hybrid documentary where directors Shaun Dunne and Anna Rodgers use documentary, performance and genre-blurring storytelling methods to deliver a forceful message of what it is like to live in Ireland today with HIV.
A group of Irish and migrant women, who cannot show their faces, find creative ways to have their voices heard. Diagnosed with HIV at 21, Robbie Lawlor was one of the youngest to come out on Irish television. Enda McGrattan, AKA Veda, promised to keep their HIV status a secret but later came out with a song.
The film includes a tribute to Thom McGinty, also known as The Diceman, and the first-ever recording of the now internationally renowned PozVibes podcast.
The screening will have a Q&A discussion with the film’s directors.
