Peccadillo Pictures are screening films from Canada and France at BFI Flare 2023 that portray the complexities of LGBTQ+ relationships. It is also hosting a live Peccadillo Sofa Club event chatting to festival programmers and attending filmmakers. Lie With Me, France.

Stéphane Belcourt is a famous novelist who is invited to be an ambassador for a cognac brand celebrating its 200th anniversary. He consequently visits his hometown after being absent for decades. Belcourt discovers that an organiser of the trip is the son of his first lover. Memories of the toxic atmosphere of the town and his repressed desires, along with memories of this his passion of his youth come flooding back. Turbulent emotions of guilt and desire, mixed with grief, in all their complexities are set against the stunning French countryside to great effect. (98 minutes).

Jake is a high school teenager, under paternal pressure to make it onto the school basketball team. He also has got a girlfriend that wants to have sex with him. Unfortunately for both, Jake is neither interested in basketball nor the desire to lose his virginity to the girl. Then sexy Alek moves into the house across the road, and behold, Jake develops a sudden interest in basketball and losing his virginity. We do not need to guess why that is! (120 minutes).
