Pleasure Medicine launches on 4 April, 2025 at 7:00pm (doors open 6:30pm) at the stunning Green Place Studios in Hackney. This unique event, inspired by creator Gary Albert’s frustrations with the queer scene, creates a unique experience centred on deeper pleasure, connection and self-expression.
“Pleasure Medicine is the thing I want to see in the world but can’t find – a place for GBTQ men to be together in joy, kindness, intimacy and conscious connection where we can let the masks we wear to gently drop away,” says creator and facilitator Gary Albert, an award-winning musician, conscious DJ, therapist and embodiment practitioner with over 12 years of experience in the healing and transformation arts.

A response to the connection crisis
As rates of loneliness and disconnection rise in the queer community alongside frustrations with dating apps and substance-focused social scenes, Pleasure Medicine offers an alcohol and drug-free space where men can meet, connect and express themselves authentically.
The evening features a guided embodiment workshop, intimacy and sensuality exercises, followed by a 90-minute conscious dance journey spanning classical, electronic, tribal, techno and disco music.
No dance experience is required – just a willingness to explore movement in a judgment-free environment.
“I watched myself dancing in the mirror and I felt more gay than ever and I loved it!”

Gary told QX, “I didn’t realise until my 40s how sensitive I am to the overwhelming pressures placed on me as a gay man; the need to act more masculine, femme shaming, body image issues, the fear of rejection and not knowing how to deal with the energy of overwhelming booze and drug fuelled clubs. I needed something softer, kinder and more accessible – a place to truly discover and be myself. Pleasure Medicine is my answer… and I think it’s going to grow really big, really quick!”
