21/01/12: Would you laugh if I was to tell you that while the boys bucked and writhed, £5k worth of cash hidden in balloons fell from the ceilings?
No, its not a description of one of my more racy dreams, it’s a mere snapshot of super-club G-A-Y last Saturday night. That’s right, denominations of a full £5,000 were released onto main floor every half an hour; giving the more petite twinks a new reason altogether to scramble in a bid to climb any six-foot fellow revelers like a tree to get the dollars as they fell to the ground! (And just so you know, the unclaimed £2,070 from the night was added to G-A-Y’s fundraising for the Elton John AIDS Foundation bringing the total to £109,755!)
The perfect distraction from all the money mayhem came in the form of rising star singer, and Iranian-Scottish siren Yasmin Shahmir. The doe-eyed beauty walked from the wings enshrined in a wreath of flowers and asserting her presence big time with that black bustier – just how we like it. Working the crowd up slowly with her dulcet tones, she started with her debut single ‘Finish Line’, leading us into a hot and heavy mega mix of the Rui Da Silva powerhouse ‘Touch Me (In The Morning)’.
The crowd’s fingertips were already grazing the ceiling by the time Ms. Shahmir dropped her last track, latest single ‘Light Up The World’. The jungle bass had us boys right back on the floor, echoing her lyrical sentiments of ‘feeling like we need some room’ in a whole new way. Yes Yasmin, come again!
