25/08/12: “Oooh she’s been a bitch tonight, and by bitch, I mean this rain!” – But despite the weather being wetter than our y-fronts at the Magic Mike premier, the night went on.
So, QX rocked up to Heaven – not, looking like a “drowned, harassed rat” as the Scissor Sisters would put it, but as ferosh as when we left the house – and ready for a kiki – mhmm hunty! We said ‘R.I.P’ to the wet weave (after squatting for twenty minutes under a toilet hand-dryer) and hit the DP Lounge bar, feeling very much ‘Hot Right Now’ in anticipation for a certain Rita Ora.
Come show time, Miss Ora stormed the stage with true sassy swag, before going on to belt out a trio of No.1 chart hits and three further exclusive previews of new album tracks as the crowd skanked out to pop’s newest princess!
Rita showed us exactly ‘how we do party’ when we joined the gal backstage after the show to throw back a few more vodka cokes and raise a toast to the lady. It wasn’t just our vision that doubled, it was the batting of QX Editor Cliff’s lashes when we clocked one Harry ‘One Direction’ Styles and Nick ‘Grimmers’ Grimshaw!
If that wasn’t enough celeb action, the crew were joined by Nicola Adams, Olympic Gold medal winner… and was that NDubz Fazer over there in the corner? Perez Hilton couldn’t have worked a better guest list.
It was only inevitable that the night would come to a messy close with a food fight between Harry and Grimmers, leaving Rita speechless as Haribo and M&Ms flew across the room leaving the VIP room looking like something akin to a Disney store massacre. Taking our cue to duck out as the chocolate buttons went flying, we left the club hailing a taxi with our new indulgent “cos that’s just how we do…” it at G-A-Y attitude.
